All Twelve SUS Schools –
-all schools are offering physical tours in some capacity ranging from a traditional tour to a guided self-tour
- these tours are often smaller than they were pre-Covid
-students MUST submit ACT and/or SAT scores (Florida’s SUS is NOT test optional)
University of Florida (Gainesville)
-#6 Public University in the US
-admitted ~3600 students to their PACE program (Pathway to Campus Enrollment)
- ~900 students accepted this offer
-admitted 600 students to Innovation Academy (Spring-Summer model)
- ~300 students accepted
- students can now self-report ACT and SAT scores
Florida State University (Tallahassee)
#19 Public University in the US
-received more that 66,000 applications last year
-will accept ACT and SAT scores through December 31
-November 1 deadline and February 17 notification date
University of Central Florida (Oviedo and Orlando)
-added a downtown Orlando campus with Valencia College
-accepted 106 new National Merit Scholars
-added one BS degree in Data Science and one in Career and Technical Education
University of South Florida (Tampa, St. Pete, and Sarasota)
-#46 Public University in the US
-received more than 50,000 applications last year
-there is a Publix on the Tampa campus
-placing a larger emphasis on grade point average this year in the admissions process
-added a BS in Supply Chain Management
University of North Florida (Jacksonville)
-Summer admission averages are 3.3 – 4.0 grade point average, 20 – 25 ACT, 1000-1150 SAT
-they hold Apply in July events
-added one BA in Business Intelligence and one in Advanced Manufacturing
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (Tallahassee)
-November 1 priority deadline for financial aid
-will be part of the Common App soon
-looking for a 3.0 weighted grade point average, ACT Math 22, Reading 22, and English 19
Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton)
-had 6,000 applicants for 66 spots in medical school
-now uses SSAR (Student Self-Reported Academic Record)
- SSAR was used by UF and FSU; more schools are adding it each year
Florida International University (Miami)
-Florida’s next preeminent university
-4,000 new freshman this year
-Bacardi School for Hospitality is open
-will appear in October addition of “The College Tour”
Florida Polytechnic University (Lakeland)
-Top 5 Tech University in the South
-offers degree in Cyber Security Engineering
-large eSports program
-added Club Soccer and Men’s Lacrosse
Florida Gulf Coast University (Naples)
-welcomed the largest freshman class in school history
-no tuition increases for eight years
New College of Florida (Sarasota)
-700 students at the State’s Honors College
-~12 students per class
-every student is assigned a career coach
University of West Florida (Pensacola)
-Top 15 Regional University in the South
-NCAA DII Champions in football
-now using SSAR
